Imagine the police crashing thru your front door at 5 a.m. looking for drugs and guns.

That exactly what happened to Angela Peoples on the morning of September 14th at her home at 8 Airport Road in the Town of Wallkill. TYhe police came in looking for a load of drugs and wound up finding weapons, according to the Times Herald Record.

Peoples told the the Record that,

"They came in, they threw us on the floor, they put plastic handcuffs on us."

The Orange County Drug Task Force executed the search and did not find a huge load of drugs but both Peoples and her 17 year old son Robert Peoples were arrested as part of a three month investigation by the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Angela Peoples has been charged with the felony, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance which is a misdemeanor.

Her son has been charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a felony.

After being released on bail, Angela Peoples is now saying that the whole thing is a big misunderstanding and that most of the guns that were found were BB guns or they were non working guns.

Police did find a loaded .45 caliber handgun and Peoples tells the Record that the gun was left there by a friend.

Peoples family member, Jenneta Mann, told the Record on Tuesday that her cousin, Robert Peoples, has wanted to be in the military since he was a child, which is why he's in the ROTC now. Robert wanted to sign up to be a Marine, but his mom wouldn't let him until he turned 18 and she's worried that the charges could derail her cousin's future forever.
