Successful Takedown of Woman in Ulster County, Again
Ulster County, NY woman has been arrested for the second time in the last two months after she allegedly broke into an occupied residence while the victim was asleep and stole property.
It's been a busy couple of months for the Ulster County Sherriff's Office (UCSO), just last week we told you they had issued a warning for residents in the Town of Espous, NY, and surrounding neighborhoods after receiving reports that someone was breaking into residential homes and vehicles.
Occupied House in Ulster County Broken Into
Earlier this month UCSO Detectives began to investigate the reported incidents and over the course of its investigation it was determined that during the early morning hours, a suspect had broken into an occupied residence while the victim was asleep and stole property. According to a UCSO press release, a few days later detectives identified the suspect and linked them to a vehicle break-in that occurred in the same area.
Suspect Identified
Detectives identified 29-year-old Kristen Jones of Ulster Park, New York, as the person allegedly responsible for both of the recent crimes, and on January 10, 2025, they executed a search warrant at her residence. As a result, detectives were able to recover multiple stolen items belonging to both of the victims, as well as stolen property that was previously reported stolen from a mailbox in the Town of Esopus back in 2024.
Kristen Jones Indicted
The case involving Jones was presented to an Ulster County Grand Jury on January 16th and soon after an "indictment warrant of arrest" was issued for the following felonies:
- Burglary in the 2nd Degree
- Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree
- Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree

Arrested, Again?
She was arraigned in Ulster County Court on January 17th and was sent to the Ulster County Jail without bail. She is due back in court at a later date. The press release said that this was Ms. Jones’ second arrest for burglary in the past two months. The UCSO arrested her back on November 13, 2024, and charged her with similar charges after detectives investigated the burglary of a different residence.
