Here at the radio station, we love when someone brings their pet to work. Most often it is a dog and by the end of the day everyone has taken a turn playing with the dog in their office or the hall.

I love it when we get a fur visit at work. We have often discussed how great it would be to have a pet around all the time. A therapy pet trained in breaking up the stress of the day. It sounds silly saying that in radio but what if you had a stressful job? How great would it be to have a dog help you shake off the pressure.

Ulster County 911 in New York Will Get a Therapy Dog

It is not as uncommon as you would think and one agency in Ulster County is implementing a Therapy Dog into the office. The Ulster County Government shared today that the Ulster County Department of Emergency Services is about to launch its first Therapy Dog Program.

Oliver the Goldendoodle who is right now only 8 weeks old is about to head out for training as a Therapy Dog. Oliver gets specialized training so that he can work in an emergency services environment. Oliver when training is finished will be assigned to the 911 telecommunications branch of the Division of Emergency Communitcations.

Oliver will maintain a regular schedule at the 911 center and be available for critical incident stress management following particularly challenging calls or events. (Ulster County Governemnt via Facebook)
