Ulster County Arts Awards Announced
For the 6th year in a row, local artists and organizations in Ulster County were recognized for not only their amazing work but also the wonderful contributions they make to not only Ulster County but to the Hudson Valley as well.
The 6th annual Ulster County Executive's Arts Awards were awarded earlier this week at the Saugerties Performing Arts Factory by Ulster County Executive Mike Hein in conjunction with Arts Mid-Hudson. 10 artists and organizations received this prestigious honor, based on their contributions to the cultural life of Ulster County over a period of time as well as the support they show the arts throughout the county.
Arm of the Sea Theater, founded in 1982 was awarded the Arts Organization award; Donald Elder, whose works are shown nationally and internationally, was recognized as an individual artist; Volunteer was Jim McIntyre, and Arts in Education was given to Oneonta Elementary art teacher Roberta Ziemba.
In addition a special posthumous award was given to Stacy Jarit for her work as an artists and an advocate; Anthony Caccjio, Jr also received a special citation for his work at the Rosendale Theater; Michael Asbill was recognized as an Artivist; P&T Surplus was awarded as business; the Art in Public Places award went to Trinia Greene, and 15-year-old Lucie Parker was recognized as student with exceptional promise in the arts.
