The Uglier the Better at these Hudson Valley Events

It is that fashion-forward time of year again when we will all be digging to the back of our closet to find that trusty Christmas Sweater. Yes, you know the one. You couldn't wait to buy it and wear it out the first chance you got to be seen in an Ugly Christmas Sweater.

It is a fun tradition that according to CNN.com can be traced back to the 1950s. Of course back then it was a comfy sweater people wore in holiday photos, but over the decades it has turned into the sweater-wearing event we know and love today which is basically the crazier the sweater the better.

Places Throwing Ugly Sweater Parties in the Hudson Valley

The Ugly Christmas Sweater took off in the late 1990s and is now usually a running theme at just about every holiday party. It is even popular at work gatherings this time of year. Not even pets get to escape the humiliation.

If you have a sweater you want to wear out for all to see you are in luck because it turns out there are a few Ulgy Sweater Parties scheduled over the next few weeks at some really fun Hudson Valley locations. So shake the mothballs out of the Ulgy Sweater it is time to hit a holiday party or two.

Sunday, Dec 8th - Fleet Feet Poughkeepsie - 1895 South Rd Poughkeepsie, NY

Fleet Feet's Annual Ugly Sweater Run will get underway this Sunday at 9 AM. Lots of fun for the runners and even their families. Registration is still open. Runners will get Fleet Feet swag including a customer race bib, ugly sweater socks, warm cider, and donuts after the race. There will also be prizes for the most outrageous outfits.

Saturday, December 21st - Robibero Winery - 714 Albany Post Rd New Paltz, NY

Robibero Winery's Annual Ugly Sweater Party is from 11 AM to 5 PM with a contest at 4 PM. # categories will be awarded, Ulgy, Uglier, and finally Ugliest. Prizes are bottles of wine of course. Enjoy Live music, a bonfire, and wood-fired pizza.

Saturday, December 21st - Angry Orchard - 2241 Albany Post Road Walden, NY

Angry Orchard is holding an Ulgy Sweater Party from 6 PM to 9 PM and everyone is invited to be there in their loudest tackiest most horrible holiday outfits. Enjoy Live Band Karaoke with Hill Billy Parade plus food for purchase at the in-house kitchen. And yes there is an ugly sweater contest.
