There is nothing worse then going out to your car and realizing that you have a flat tire. It's even worse when your tires have been slashed.

According to the Daily Freeman, there have been numerous reports this week, out of Saugerties of tire vandalism in the village.

Police Chief Joseph Sinagra announced on Facebook that, “There have been a number of reported tires slashed over the past couple of days to vehicles parked in the municipal lot behind Mirabella’s Restaurant off Partition Street in the village.”

Sinagra also told the Freeman that most of the reports that they were receiving were from within the village and around the municipal parking lot but that another tire was vandalized on Sunday night in the Bishop’s Gate development right off of Route 9W.

Saugerties resident Mary Schultz told the Freeman that, two of the tires on her Honda Accord were slashed recently in her driveway on Russell Street and that she has lived in Saugerties for 28 years and had never before experienced anything of this nature. She also said that “We have a maniac running around, it’s just vandalism for the joy of vandalism. They have nothing to gain by puncturing a tire.”

Police have no suspects and are asking that if you know anything about any of these incidents please give them a call at (845)246-9800.
