Some of you may recall my blog on Farmers, with Paul Harvey. I was not aware that Paul Harvey had done a similar narration "The Policeman". I am admittedly a Paul Harvey fan and in light of all that has happened with law enforcement in recent weeks it is no surprise that this tribute to police men and women has found its way onto social media. I saw it this morning, listened to it and knew I want to share it with all of you in case you miss it cycling on Facebook, twitter or wherever.

Paul Harvey has a gift. He can tell a story or profess facts and you will hang on each word. His delivery leaves you enough time to process what he wants you to hear, while giving you a chance to re-think what you already know to be true and reaffirms your convicts that yes, Paul Harvey is correct and can say it like no one else could on the best day.

I will admit that I don't often encounter law enforcement officers. I don't know exactly why that is, except that I don't speed when I drive and I try to live as a law abiding citizen. I have also been fortunate enough not to need an officer's assistance. However, in recent weeks due to my bumbling nature I have had the opportunity to meet two local law enforcement officers. One was in the village of New Paltz, the other in the Town of Poughkeepsie. Both assisted me after I set off building alarms at both of my jobs all in one day. During my encounter with both officers I was struck by their professionalism and patience and I made sure to thank them for doing their job. After all I am just a dope who can't work a building alarm, I can only hope that the rest of their calls were that harmless.

So take a moment to listen to this Paul Harvey narration titled "The Policeman". And please can we all agree that being a law enforcement office is an honorable yet difficult job and we should thank officers as often as we get the chance.
