Original Moonrise Bagel Makes a Comeback This Weekend in Kingston

The History of Moonrise Bagels in the Hudson Valley

During the Pandemic, like most people, Ali Chetkof and Jeremy Rhodes were looking for ways to keep busy and they found themselves in their Woodstock, NY kitchen.

The couple was working their way through a cookbook when Jeremy landed on making bagels. In 2021, the bagel inspiration took a unique turn.

While preparing food for New Years Eve, Jeremy used the left over pizza ingredients he had and stuffed it into bagels he had been making. It was a huge hit among friends, so much so that Ali and Jeremy began stuff bagels with numerous different flavors and selling them from their apartment window.

Word spread fast! Next thing you know, Moonrise Bagel home of the original stuffed bagel had its own store front in Woodstock. They began stuffing bagels with buffalo chicken, Reuben and classic breakfast combos like bacon, egg and cheese. Since then, Moonrise Bagels has opened additional locations in Poughkeepsie and Kingston.

Moonrise Bagels Adds Original Idea Back on The Menu

It's been a few years now and Moonrise Bagels have left bagel stuffed pizzas off the menu. Until now!

In an Instagram post Moonrise Bagels explains just how difficult it was to created the pizza stuffed bagel writing "This wild journey all started when Jeremy made too much pizza sauce and decided to try stuffing a pizza inside a bagel — a crazy idea that actually worked (kind of)."

They go on to write :

But keeping the pizza filling inside the bagel was always a challenge, and after a lot of trial and a lot of error, we took it off the menu until we could get it right.

According to a social media post after 2 years of "testing, learning, and more testing" they are excited to bring back the Pizza Stuffed Bagel.

Where & When Can You Get a Moonrise Pizza Stuffed Bagel?

You can get your hands on one starting Sunday, June 15th, 2025.

However, it will only be located at the Kingston location exclusively from 11:30 am until 4 pm. There will be drinks, music games and of course Pizza Stuffed Bagels.
