Suspicious Device Found at CSX Rail Yard

It all happened on Sunday near Albany, New York.

According to WTEN, a CSX employee saw a cylindrical device they did not recognize on a tanker rail car at the CSX Rail Yard in Selkirk, New York and called local authorities to report it because it could be identified.

Local police from the Bethlehem Police Department and Bethlehem Fire Department both responded to the call and assisted the CSX police in the investigation as to what the device was.

After conducting an investigation the authorities discovered that the device that found was a container for holding shipping paperwork that had been attached to the rail car by the customer doing the shipping.

The New York State Police did dispatch a K-9 unit to the scene but wound up calling them off before they arrived at the scene.

Great job by all of the responders and thankfully the device was nothing to worry about.
