Another local animal rescue is asking for the publics help.

Sullivan County SPCA  Facing Significant Challenges

Earlier this month the Sullivan County SPCA took to social media to share an important update with the community.

In the statement they write "Due to the rising costs of veterinary care and overall cost of shelter operations, we're facing a significant challenge in keeping our doors open."

The Sullivan County SPCA is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) and is a true no-kill shelter. When it comes to funding, they rely solely on donations from the community, they add:

"We DO NOT get any government assistance or state funding. Unfortunately, without your support we will be closing our doors."

How You Can Help Sullivan County SPCA Keep Their Doors Open

There are several ways to help the Sullivan County SPCA. With organizations like theirs, every donation matters.

Donations will "directly support the care and well-being" of their animals.

The Sullivan County SPCA says just sharing their message is also extremely helpful. If you see a post on social media share it with friends and family on different social platforms.

If you have the ability to do so, becoming a Monthly Donor is extremely helpful as it will "provide stability and predictability" for their shelters operations.

Donations will help cover veterinary care costs for rescued animals like spays/neuters/ medications, vaccines, blood tests and more. Rises in food, supplies and utilities have also been a point of contention for Sullivan County SPCA.

Details about how to donate can be found at sullivanspca.org/donate. They also accept Paypal donation @SullivanCountySPCA.

Many Local Animal Shelters Facing Difficulty Staying Open

Unfortunately, this isn't the first we're hearing about local organizations needing to help to keep their shelter doors open.

The Middletown Humane Society recently shared on social media that they were in desperate need for food donations. They had just brought in a mother and her 11 pups, plus over 60 animals already looking for their forever homes.

That's a lot of mouths to feed, with limited budget as Middletown Humane is much like Sullivan County SPCA and where they rely directly on donations from their community.

Heartbreaking Discovery: 5 Dogs Rescued from Barn After Years of Neglect

Five neglected dogs were rescued from a barn in Upstate New York during a foreclosure, where they had been living in filthy, inhumane conditions without sunlight, fresh air, or proper care. Believed to be from a former licensed breeder, the dogs are older, unsocialized, and in poor health, now beginning a long road to recovery with the help of rescuers.
