A local animal rescue is in desperate need of donations.

Middletown NY Humane Society: Big Hearts, Small Purses

The Middletown New York Humane Society has been opened since 1959. On their website they explain that the shelter was founded by a  "handful of people with big hearts and small purses."

They are a privately run shelter that is "funded only through the generosity" of their supporters donations. Contrary to popular belief they do not receive any funding of support from the Humane Society of the U.S.

With that being said, a recent influx in rescues has the Middletown NY Humane Society asking the public for their help.

Food Donations Needed To Help 60 + Animals in Middletown, NY

On Facebook, the Middletown NY Humane Society explained that they recently rescued a mother dog and her litter of 11, 1-day-old puppies.

When you add, 12 dogs to an already large list of animals you can understand that it may get costly for a non-funded organization to feed all those mouths.

They write "As a no-kill shelter, it has become increasingly costly to continue to care for the less adoptable animals. " So now, the Middletown Humane Society is asking for the public to assist in their mission:

"We are DESPERATE for Purina One small bites or Purina pro plan puppy dry food and any brand canned food. We have more than 60 dogs/puppies currently in our care and we need your help.
