Stewart's to Help Local New York Dairy Farmers

It's been tough for small and local businesses across the nation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Local dairy farms have taken a big hit as well as we've seen here in the Hudson Valley.

Stewart's Shops announced in a press release that they are currently working to offer relief to local dairy farmers and customers in New York.

Stewart's explains in the press release that, "With schools and restaurants closed, the dairy industry is producing 15% more milk than the American public can consume, leading many dairy producers with no choice but to dump excess milk."

In an effort to avoid dumping that excess milk, Stewart's announced they will be bringing relief to our dairy producers and that comes with "increased competitive premiums, by .50 cents from .10/cwt to .60 cents/cwt for the month of May and could be extended into June. In addition, the company is extending their fuel savings with a decreased hauling charge for the month of May."

Normally, Stewart's relies on 25 different local dairy farms to source their milk products.
