Steps Being Taken To Protect Hudson Valley Swimming Hole

New York State will hire two full-time seasonal employees to protect one of the Hudson Valley's most popular swimming holes. As more and more people have discovered Peekamoose Blue Hole, the move to defend it has become necessary.

The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development will have these stewards provide education to the public. Their job will be to provide information on Leave No Trace principles, as well as info on the New York City watershed and Catskill Forest Preserve.

It's a five day work week starting Memorial Day and running through Columbus Day weekend in October. Pay is $13-$15 an hour depending on experience and you must apply by April 16th. But be ready to work weekends because you'll be on the clock Thursday through Monday with Tuesday and Wednesday as your days off.

You'll be the perfect candidate if you have a knowledge of natural history, ecology, and botany. You must be a good communicator and must be able to work outside all day in a remote setting.
