SPCA Westchester just received vital equipment that will make rescuing local animals easier and more efficient.

SPCA Westchester Purchase New Emergency Vehicle

In a statement shared on social media, SPCA Westchester updated their followers on new purchases they've made thanks to a grant.

A $100,000 grant secured by New York State Senator Pete Harckham helped the rescue purchase a new emergency response vehicle and vital medical equipment.

Senator Harckham said in the statement “This grant is an investment in compassion, health, and community,” adding:

SPCA Westchester plays an essential role in protecting vulnerable animals and ensuring they receive the medical care and safe shelter they deserve. I’m proud to support their extraordinary work with the resources needed to continue saving animals’ lives.

The vehicle purchased is a 2025 Ford Escape which will help enhance animal protection patrols.

SPCA Westchester's CEO Shannon Laukhuf explains the importance of the new vehicle stating" As the County’s sole Humane Law Enforcement Unit, our new vehicle will enable officers to swiftly respond to calls of potential cruelty, ensuring animals are removed from harm’s way and their abusers arrested.
