Most were hoping to avoid it, but the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for many parts of the Hudson Valley, with snow in the forecast.

On Thursday, the Nation Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Ulster, Sullivan, Greene and Delaware counties from 2 a.m. Saturday until 11 a.m.

A mix of rain and snow is expected in those areas with one to two inches of snow forecasted. Up to 2 inches is possible in the higher elevations, according to the National Weather Service. Wind speeds could reach up to 35 MPH.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, the National Weather Service reports.

According to the National Weather Service, plan on slippery road conditions. Gusty winds may result in isolated downed trees that could impact powerlines for isolated power outages. Also, fallen leaves may hinder storm drains from water draining resulting in minor flooding.

The precipitation is expected to transition to all rain Saturday afternoon.

The National Weather Service also issued a Flash Flood Warning for Westchester and Rockland counties for Saturday.

The National Weather Service has yet to issue any warnings for Dutchess, Orange and Putnam counties. However, AccuWeather predicts a powerful winter-like storm will bring heavy rain and possibly snow to the region.
