Investigation Into Saugerties Shooting

Chief Swart also said that the weapon allegedly used in this incident was a compressed CO2 pistol that shoots round projectiles. More than one shot was fired, one of which may have struck the hotel window, he said.

According to Crime Watch, police established that the reported firearm was a .68-caliber CO2-powered “defense pistol” designed to shoot less-lethal projectiles.

Thankfully, nobody else was injured during the incident. Jones was transported to Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston, where he was treated and released back into the custody of SPD.

He was arraigned in Ulster County Central Arraignment Part Court, issued an appearance ticket, and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in Saugerties Justice Court at a later date.
