It looks like the Town of Ulster will be home to an indoor shooting range.

According to the Daily Freeman, the indoor shooting range that originally was proposed to open in Midtown Kingston could now open in the town of Ulster as soon as this fall.

Town of Ulster supervisor James Quigley told the Freeman that the town board approved project this week and that the town will probably issue a building permit next month.

The 22,000-square-foot indoor range will be called the Mercantile Facility and Shooting Sports Complex and will have 20 shooting lanes. It'll be located at 10 Kieffer Lane in the Town of Ulster.

Quigley also said that he supports the opening of the range,

“I believe in the right to carry and bear arms under the Constitution of the United States. I also believe that people who carry guns should be properly trained, and therefore this facility will provide gun owners a place to get the training they need to be safe gun owners.”

Once open, the Mercantile Facility and Shooting Sports Complex will have a members’ lounge, a special events room, a café and 5,000 square feet of retail space, including a gunsmith workshop.
