Hudson Valley Parents Investigate ‘Weird’ School Bus Incident
A mom and son waiting for the school bus experienced something Wednesday morning in Poughkeepsie, NY that made her jump in protection mode.
Most parents will completely understand why the mom we are about to introduce you to did what she did after she had a "weird" interaction with a couple of school bus drivers that pulled up near the bus stop and told her son to get it.
Odd Bus Stop in Poughkeepsie, New York
The mom explained the incident on a recent post on Facebook saying that while she and her son were waiting for the school bus in the Town of Poughkeepsie, a small Arlington Central School District bus pulled up and waved to her son for him to get on the bus. She said the bus drivers have never done this before, so she walked over to ask what this was all about and was met by two men inside the bus that told her that this was "a new bus" and asked her son to get on.

Feeling uneasy, the mom asked a few more questions and one of the men asked for her son's name and informed her that he was not the child they were looking to pick up. Confused about why they asked for his name as the bus drivers have never done that before, she decided to contact the school district's transportation department, which informed her that she was the second person to report a similar incident.
The mom proceeded to file a report with the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department and posted her experience online to warn other parents that something suspect might be going on in the area.

As you can imagine, lots of parents saw the post and soon after it began to show up on Facebook feeds all across the Hudson Valley, leading to the Arlington Central School District to address the post on its parent portal. According to the school, they investigated the mom's report and were able to confirm that the bus in question was a district bus that was assigned to pick up a specific child for a district program and it was not an attempt to cause any harm to the child.
The district also said that they appreciated the parent's report and encouraged all parents concerned about any bus route issues to contact them at 845-486-4955.
Thankfully, there was nothing shady going on but situations like this are a great time to remind our kids that they should never get on a school bus with people they don’t know!
