Police Searching for Owner of Pistol Found in Dutchess County

The Red Hook police department is hoping the public can help them locate the owner of a pistol that was recovered at the scene of an altercation on Tuesday night.

Red Hook Police Request the Public's Assistance

Police in Red Hook, NY, are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the subjects involved in an altercation that took place on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, at approximately 9:25 p.m. in the area of Tobacco Lane.

According to the Red Hook Police Department's (RHPD) Facebook page, officers were dispatched to the area of Tobacco Lane for a report of a fight in progress between two males.

Upon arrival, officers reported that both of the males allegedly involved had already fled the scene on foot, leading officers, along with the New York State Police, to canvass the area to try and locate those involved.

Pistol Found in Red Hook, New York

During their investigation, officers weren't able to locate anyone involved but did recover a black revolver pistol at the scene (above). Police said that the gun is a "C02 powered tactical pistol" that was loaded at the time of discovery with metal ball ammunition and is equipped with a red dot sight.
