At this point, anything can happen in 2020.

Now I'm not saying that this is the most unusual sighting we've had in the Hudson Valley, but let's be honest it's not an everyday occurrence.

In one of the many Dutchess County Mom's groups on Facebook, a post popped up Monday morning around 7 am of what looks like a smaller moose. Original poster Lindsay Douglas captioned the photo saying "Anyone missing a horse??? (Or a MOOSE ‍♀️‍♀️)On West Dorsey HP up from the culinary- or if you know anyone who may help-it Looks thin."

I'm no expert, but that definitely doesn't look like a horse. Take a look at the picture below and see for yourself:

Like myself, many of those in the comment section believe the image to be of a moose as well. Commenter Nicole Connelly said "I lived in Alaska. That’s a moose for sure And they are thin animals. It looks fine to me! Cool u got to see one here!!"

Just last week the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation shared that they were looking for wildlife watchers to keep an eye out for moose. In a Facebook post the DEC said:

Most of the state's moose live in the Adirondacks, but we also have moose in portions of Eastern New York, along the Vermont and Massachusetts borders. Occasionally, moose are seen in Southeastern New York and the Catskills

They also add that in 2019 there were 447 moose sighting reports.

The DEC asks that if you see a moose you should report it to them through their website and if you take a photo to send it to wildlife@dec.ny.gov.

If you're driving through Dutchess County keep an eye out for this little guy or girl, snap a picture and share it with us!
