Police in Putnam County is warning parents about a man approaching young children.

According to ABC7 NY police in Carmel have been informed of a white male in his 30's approaching several children in a residential neighborhood off State Route 301.

Police say that a mother had called them back on January 31st. The mother told police that a "driver in an unknown vehicle stopped next to her daughter as she was walking up the road and asked her where she lived."

After an investigation Detectives said the man was just a good samaritan making sure the girl was OK.

However, the families au pair went outside and that's when the girls' older brother admitted the same man approached him days earlier.

Two days before that an incident was reported, in the same neighborhood, where two 9-year-old boys were approached by a man who matched the previous description. The man was in a white pickup truck offering the boys candy and "attempting to lure them to the back of his truck."

It's also being reported that the man threatened the boy's lives if they told anyone about the incident.

Again, the man is described as in his 30's. They also add he was wearing camouflage and the truck he's driving is described as being beaten up with many dents.
