Over the last few weeks, the Ossining Police Department has found creative ways to draw attention to their social media posts.

Usually these posts are regarding an animal that Ossining PD has found and is looking for their owners. Their latest installment on Facebook was a wild ride.

Ossining Police Search For Ferret Owner With Thirst Trap?

On Monday, May 5th, 2025 the Ossining Police Department found themselves in the possession of a unique creature that you don't normally see roaming the streets of New York... a ferret.

To get the attention to the animals owner they posted a photo of the ferret with an officer and the caption was completely unhinged in the best way.

Ossining PD writes:

Alright folks: let’s keep the thirst to a minimum here. Sgt. McGovern (right) is only in the photo to provide scale. After the last couple of posts a disclaimer seems appropriate.

Things get even sillier when Ossining PD jokes that they are not sure "what breed this tiny, long, skinny dog is" but it has "weaseled its way into our collective hearts."

There was even talks to add the creature to the K9 Unite and add it to the SVU, Special Vermin Unit.

All jokes aside, they were sure someone was looking for this little guy.

Ferret Travels Over 15 Miles Across Westchester County New York

An update shared later in the day explained that the ferrets owners came forward and the Ossining PD learned of the critters crazy journey.

The post explains the ferret traveled all the way from Yonkers and somehow ended up in Ossining.

Of course Ossining PD had to keep the laughs going writing:

We aren’t sure exactly how he made his way all the way north to us, but we are happy he is back home with his family!

The ferret was returned safely to his family who was worried sick.

Nearby Connecticut Police Department Goes Viral With Unintentional Thirst Trap

Over in Darien, Connecticut the local police department went viral unintentionally while trying to introduce some of their officers to the community.

Detective Cusano participated in a "Rapid Fire Friday" question round on the Darien Police Department Instagram account and the internet had a field day.

Since it was posted earlier in April 2025, the comments have been turned off. But we're sure you could use your imagination and figure out the theme of the comments.
