Every non-profit organization, publicly traded companies, as well as a variety of other organizations, have a Board of Directors. These men and women help manage and guide the organization, monitor practices and procedures, and at times even lend their names to fund-raising activities. It has been my honor to have served on several boards throughout the Hudson Valley as well as Pennsylvania. These individuals are often passionate about the cause, if it happens to be a non-profit, or very competent in their profession, if it's for a company.

With this in mind, congratulations are in order for Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus. He has been elected unanimously to serve on the County Executives of America’s (CEA) board of directors. Presently this board has 28 members who vote on all CEA legislative and administrative policies, and represent the organization at various events, including meetings at the White House and Congress.

County Executives of America began in 1994 and is the only non-partisan association dedicated specifically to chief elected county officials. Among it's members are County Executives, County Judges, Parish and Borough Presidents, City-County Mayors, Commission Presidents and Chairs, and all county leaders elected at-large by the public constituency.

Their purpose is to bring together these local officials to discuss and determine policy on wide-ranging issues that affect local governments and the people they serve. According to their by-laws, Neuhaus can serve on CEA’s board of directors for as long as he wishes.
