A tragic accident in Ulster County has claimed the life of a 38-year-old motorcycle rider.

If you spend any time driving in the Hudson Valley you know that motorcycles are out in full force on most our roads during the warmer months. Our area is a beautiful place for riders to ride but unfortunately, a simple ride can quickly turn tragic as it did earlier this week in Ulster County, NY.

Ulster County Man Dies in Motorcycle Accident

An Olivebridge, NY man tragically lost his life on Tuesday after the motorcycle he was operating on the Dividing Weir Bridge crashed into a pickup truck according to the Daily Freeman. At approximately 6:15 p.m. Tuesday evening 38-year-old Lyle P. Cooke was traveling northbound on Reservoir Road across the bridge that crosses over the Ashokan Reservoir when he swerved to avoid a pedestrian, lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the front passenger side of a pickup truck that was towing a trailer.

First Responders from various agencies including the Olive Police and Fire Departments, Olive EMS, and Mobile Life Support Services arrived on the scene to provide medical care and then proceeded to transport Cooke to the HeatlhAlliance Hospital in Kingston, NY where sadly, he was pronounced dead according to police.

46-year-old Marcelino Guzman, the driver of the pickup truck from Phoenicia, New York was not injured in the accident and according to police no tickets were issued at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
