NY Man Admits to Killing Sister in Hunting Accident
The shooting took place back in November.
John Lander of Rochester, NY was accused of accidentally shooting his sister in law, 45 year old Sharon Lander, while hunting in upstate New York, has pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide, according to the Daily Freeman.
The tragedy took place on November 27th, while Sharon Lander was in a hunting party with four other people including her brother John Lander, when she was shot in the abdomen.
The shooting took place in woods near the Genesee River in Livingston County which is south of Rochester.
At the time of the shooting John Lander told police that were investigating that his shotgun went off when he dropped it as he was taking it off his shoulder.
With the guilty plea on Tuesday of criminally negligent homicide Lander was sentenced to four months of weekends in the county jail and he will be eligible for work release, according to the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office.
