Retired NYS Trooper Receives Companion Dog
Last week Beacon Professional Firefighters IAFF L-3490 attended a ceremony for the presentation of a brand new companion dog. They shared photos and details from the event on Facebook.
The social media post explains that retired New York State Police Troop K Trooper Greer was gifted a companion dog from the Boots & Paws organization.
Karl, an 8-week-old Double Doodle puppy is now a part of the Greer family and it looks like was welcomed with open arms.
More on Boots & Paws with The Guardian Revival Organization
Boots & Paws, the organization that gifted Trooper Greer a companion dog, is a branch of a larger organization called Guardian Revival.
At Guardian Revival their mission is to "revive and preserve the mental health and well-being of veterans and first responders — our guardians — at no cost to them." They provide a handful of programs, opportunities, and resources for active or retired guardians free of charge.
For instance, the Boots & Paws program provides companion dogs for free. These dogs offer guardians therapeutic benefits like reducing stress and anxiety, easing depression and loneliness, and encouraging regular exercise.
The program also offers therapy dog visitation events to businesses, schools and communities. Learn more about Boots & Paws, as well as other Guardian Revival resources and programs at GuardianRevival.org.
