A 9-year-old girl, who had been reported missing out of Lake George, NY, has been found dead, according to police.

What began as an AMBER Alert has ended in tragedy as police are now reporting that 9-year-old Melina Frattolin, who had been reported missing out of Lake George Saturday night, has been found dead after police discovered inconsistencies in the father’s account of events and the timeline he provided.

Abduction Reported to Police in Lake George, NY

It all started on Saturday night, July 19th, 2025, at approximately 9:58 p.m., when Warren County 911 received an emergency call from a man reporting that his 9-year-old daughter had gone missing and was possibly abducted. The man, later identified as 45-year-old Luciano Frattolin, reported that his daughter was possibly abducted in the area of Exit 22 of I-87 in Lake George, New York, and was last seen in a white van that was heading southbound on the Adirondack Northway.

An AMBER Alert was issued statewide early Sunday morning, alerting folks to be on the lookout for the 9-year-old.

"Inconsistencies" in the Father’s Story

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office, along with the New York State Police (NYSP) began an investigation into the incident, and as they started, they began to identify "inconsistencies in the father’s account of events and the timeline he provided," according to a NYSP press release.

Missing Girl's Body Recovered in Ticonderoga, NY

With the assistance of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, Ticonderoga Police Department, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, New York State Forest Rangers, and New York State Police K9 and Aviation units, Melina was located on Sunday, deceased in Ticonderoga, New York. Police didn't provide any other details about the incident but did say, "At this time, there is no indication that an abduction occurred, and there is no threat to the public.

According to WTEN, the father, Luciano Frattolin, 45, is being held at the Essex County Jail. The NYSP is expected to hold a press conference at the state police barracks in Latham, NY, on Monday morning.
