Man Files for Secret Divorce

I'm really not sure how one would hide this from their spouse for 20 years, but it happened.

Imagine you think your marriage is going along okay when out of no where you find out that your spouse has already divorced you.

The wife in this crazy story is named Cristina Carta Villa and according to the New York Post, she was married to Gabriel Villa, for the past 20 years and she just learned that he may have divorced her in the Dominican Republic four months after their wedding ceremony 20 years ago, to protect his assets.

Cristina found out about the divorce in November when she received a tax bill for their Manhattan condo without her name on it. After finding the bill she did what any suspecting spouse would do, she hired a lawyer to investigate and that's when she found out about the divorce and that Gabriel had attempted to remove her name from the condo’s deed using the divorce as proof that she was not an owner.

She claims that Gabriel is attempting to give the condo to his daughter from another marriage. The one-bedroom condo in Midtown Manhattan is priced at around $1.4 million.
