Poughkeepsie’s Maddy Siegrist Picked in the First Round of WNBA Draft
It was a big night on Monday, April 10th for Poughkeepsie native Maddy Siegrist. After a stellar final season with the Villanova Wildcats, Siegrist entered the WNBA Draft in March.
During her 2022-2023 season, not only did Siegrist lead the Villanova Wildcats to the Sweet 16, but she also scored 20 + points in 36 games which broke a century-old record of the longest scoring streak of any men's or women's D-1 basketball player.
It was no surprise that Siegrist threw her name in the WNBA Draft which was held live in New York City earlier this week. The buzz around town was that the 6-2 forward, who graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes, was going to be drafted pretty early.

The Dallas Wings had a heck of a 2023 WNBA Draft. In the first round alone they brought in Siegrist, Stephanie Soares (Iowa State), Lou Lopez-Senechal (UConn), and Abby Meyers (Maryland).
Maddy Siegrist will begin her first season with the Dallas Wings on May 20th when they take on the Atlanta Dream at home in Texas at 8:00 pm. And it looks like you can already support Maddy on her Dallas Wings basketball journey. Sites like Fanatics are already selling Maddy Siegrist gear.
You can catch Maddy Siegrist live in action when the Wings take on the New York Liberty on June 11th at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn.
