One the Most Photographed Houses in Sullivan County, NY Gone
Have you ever seen a building in your travels that no matter how ragged it got, it stayed upright? It just wouldn't come down.
This particular place had grown so popular I was sure many pools were running for when it would actually fall. Windows gone, roof separated in parts but as they say, the bones were good so the place held on through the years.
This could be said about a small house on a corner in Sullivan County. You don't want to say people were on watch for it to fall in on itself but they were. Over the last few months, more and more people would share pictures on social media to show it was still standing.
Or at least it was until this past weekend.
The Famed Leaning House of Sullivan County Has Fallen
People familiar with Sullivan County have driven by the small house for decades. Standing in a humble state at the corner of 17B and Pucky Huddle Road people had hoped it would stand forever.

Unfortunately, nature and time were taking their toll on the small home. From the recent pictures you could tell it would only be a matter of time. Over the weekend the house that the Sullivan's Catskills Facebook page refers to as the Halsey Corners house finally gave way and collapsed.
The Sullivan County Facebook page also shared a link to the Sullivan County Democrat which published an article back last May talking about the history of the house. At that time people were also sure it could collapse at any minute but it seems it stood for 10 more months.
For those of us following the progress of the house slowly giving into gravity the vigil is over. The little house in Bethel that was reported to have been a washhouse and served as a way station for teamsters has officially fallen to the ground.
