A call came in around 9 p.m. Tuesday night in Ellenville, New York reportedly that one of Ulster County's most famous grand hotels was on fire.

According to numerous reports the famous Nevele Grand Hotel hotel in Ellenville, New York has caught fire and currently has numerous fire departments on the scene battling the blaze.

The structure fire call came in sometime between 9 and 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 20th according to the Ulster County Fire/Rescue Incidents Facebook page and has first responders on the scene from Walker Valley, Napanoch, Summitville, Cragsmoor, and a few other departments.

Fire at the Nevele Hotel in Ellenville

Details are limited at the moment as this is a developing story but from what firefighters have told us the fire started at the hotel located at 1100 Arrowhead Road in Ellenville sometime after 9 p.m. and could be seen from miles away. The scene is still active with the cause of the fire yet to be determined.

Grand Nevele Hotel

About six months ago we told you how the now-abandoned Nevele Grand hotel had new owners who said at the time they had big plans for the once-thriving resort in Ulster County, NY.

After 100 years in business, the Nevele closed in 2009 and sat dormant until it was announced that an investment group had purchased the property and had some big plans to revive the resort.

At the time the plans for the new Nevele included demolishing the entire resort to start fresh with a new hotel, condos, townhomes, and apartments for employees to live on-site. It's unclear if the fire will affect any of the future plans at the site but as more information becomes available we will update this article.
