Some businesses leaving, others expanding.

According to the Daily Freeman, RadioShack at the Kingston Plaza is closing down as the company announced a few weeks ago that they filed for chapter 11 once again and have decided to close hundreds of stores. The Kingston location has signs up saying everything must go.

Sav-On Party Central is closing their 3,000 square-foot retail section of the store but owner Scott Harrington told the Freeman that they are keeping open the Sav-On’s rental business in the same location. He said to the Freeman, “It is super important to our business that people understand that Sav-On is not closing, Sav-On is going strong.”

Harrington also said the reason behind closing the retail side is a simple one,

“We can’t complete anymore, small brick and mortar stores can’t compete with the big box stores or Amazon. It is a sad, familiar story.”

After deciding to close their location on Route 9W in the town of Ulster, MAC Fitness recently told members that they are planning on expanding in the Kingston Plaza location to consolidate the two locations.
