Jess Reviews Carrie Underwoods’ Story Teller Tour
What. A. Night. I'm running on about three hours of sleep all thanks to Carrie Underwood's Story Teller Tour. Totally worth it.
Last night Carrie Underwood, Easton Corbin and The Swon Brothers all stopped by the Times Union Center in Albany to take us through a snowy, rainy and cold Thursday night. The Story Teller Tour had me completely forgetting about my white knuckle trip up the slippery thruway and brought me into full on fan-girl mode.
The Swon Brothers are always so much fun. We saw them at TOC this past summer and Colton and Zach always deliver. They performed a new song "Pretty Cool Stars" and I highly recommend you all take a listen to it some time in the future. Like...now. It wasn't until last night that I realized how many hits Easton Corbin has. "Clockwork", "Baby Be My Love Song," "Little More Country Than That" and "All Over The Road" all made appearance. Apparently Easton had lost a bet and the loser had to do a cover song of the winners choosing. And that was when I heard the most countryfied version of Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself."
Carrie finally took the stage. And I mean really took the stage. She ascended from the floor, lights flashing, music pumping and belting "Renegade." From there it was a whirlwind. All I remember is belting out to every single song and the people behind me getting really upset because I wouldn't sit down. Come on ladies, it's a concert! At one point Carrie came out of the stage atop a jukebox with heavy duty sparklers sprinkling from the side. It was quite the show and I wasn't expecting it, which is my favorite part about the whole thing. The stage filled the length of the floor, but Carrie didn't ignore any section. She was continuously moving and making everyone feel apart of the Story Teller Tour. One of my favorite moments is when Carrie slowed things down a bit and expressed her love of country music and how she grew up listening to Dolly Parton. Then, the chills came. Carrie covered Dolly's "I Will Always Love You." And just like that my night was made.
Right after this gem, Carrie brought the boys back out. Easton Corbin and The Swon Brothers joined her for a collaboration on Alabama's "Mountain Music." The show ended with Carrie classics. "Before He Cheats," "Smoke Break," and "Something In The Water" rounded out the Story Teller Tour. "Something In The Water" had me on my feet and belting out the words like I thought I actually was Carrie Underwood. The poor people sitting next to me.
Some fun facts: Carrie had about 5 different outfits throughout. All were fabulous. Did you know Carrie knows how to play Harmonica? I had no idea, you could say I was..."blown away."
The Story Teller Tour was one of the best I've seen this year and I highly recommend checking out one of her later stops. Have you seen Carrie live? She puts on one hell of a show.
