Stewart's Shop and the Dake Family announced on Monday that they have made a $250,000 donation to St. Peter’s Health Partners in Albany, New York. According to their website, the donation will be used to expand its focus on cardiac and critical care at the hospital.
The donation will also be used to create a nursing scholarship program, which will identify current St. Peter’s employees who would be successful candidates to become nurses.
"The hospital has done an excellent job providing quality care for its patients, while serving as an economic driver for the region. St. Peter’s focus has made the hospital system a valuable asset for the community. We are proud to support their efforts. " Stewart's said in a press release.
Stewart's Shops Gives Back
Making big donations isn't something new to the Stewart's Shop family, as they are also responsible for starting a yearly holiday match program in 1986 that supports health, education, recreation, and arts activities for kids under the age of 18.

Each year, Stewart's Shops invites customers to make donations at all of its stores throughout the holiday season, and for every dollar donated, Stewart's matches it dollar for dollar. Just last year, Stewart’s customers donated more than $850,000 between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Stewart's doubled those donations, bringing the total to $1.77 million that will be invested in children’s organizations.
Since the Holiday Match started 39 years ago, the program has raised nearly $40 million, with every penny being redistributed to nonprofit children’s organizations.
