Jason Aldean Raises More Than $620K for Hometown Children’s Hospital
Jason Aldean is always welcomed in his hometown of Macon, Ga., and on Thursday night (Sept. 6) he gave an extra-special performance on familiar turf for his third Concert For The Kids charity event, raising a considerable sum of money for a worthy cause.
The event, held at the Macon Coliseum, netted more than $620,000 for Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, Navicent Health—the region's only dedicated pediatric facility, serving central and south Georgia that enhances the lives of children through patient care, research and education.
Aldean has raised close to $2 million to date for the facility. "There is nothing better than coming back to your hometown for a great cause and Georgia really showed up last night," the singer noted in a statement. “With the community's support over the last few years we've been able to help build an entire new facility for these kids who really need it the most."
Aldean and his wife, Brittany, were involved in yet another charitable event recently that benefits youngsters—the Vera Bradley x Blessings in a Backpack elementary school charity event on Aug. 27 in Nashville, at which the couple helped the organization hand out brand-new backpacks to schoolchildren at the city's Schwab Elementary School.
Aldean is father to two daughters by his first wife, and infant son Memphis by Brittany. The couple announced that they were expecting their second child together, a girl, in July.
