PHOTOS: Look Inside Newburgh’s New Waterfront Taco Spot
And just like that... there's a new waterfront restaurant in Newburgh, NY.
Beso Taco Bar, part of the long-established Blu Pointe restaurant at 120 Front Street in Newburgh, NY, opened its doors for a soft opening on Saturday January 27th and is now officially open to the public.
Is Beso Taco Bar Part of Blu Pointe in Newburgh, NY?
Yes. And no. Beso Taco Bar has the same owners but is located in a separate building just feet from Blu Pointe's outdoor bar (above). The space, which was previously occupied by Pointe Grille Mediterranean Kitchen, will offer outdoor dining in the summer but uses temporary vinyl walls around their patio space to remain open all year long.

The new restaurant's concept is described as celebrating "the vibrant spirit of Baja Mexican Cuisine with a modern twist". During Saturday's soft opening, this theme was shown most clearly on their cocktail menu, with updated drinks like the Beso Me Mucho (a spin on an Old Fashioned with mango puree) and the Piña Fuego (a pineapple and jalapeño-infused margarita).
Food Menu at Beso Taco Bar in Newburgh, NY
The food menu at Beso Taco Bar is extensive as well. Their guacamole (which included wood-roasted tomatoes) was delicious, and their Mexican salad was nicely highlighted by tangerines and mint. With three ceviche dishes, 14 different taco options, and small bites (called besitos) as well as larger entrees, it would take several visits to try everything.
Some Hudson Valley residents expressed surprise that Beso Taco Bar would open their location so close to Hudson Taco, a long-established Mexican fusion restaurant on the parallel Water Street. Owners may be banking on Beso's prime waterfront location to be the tipping point when diners are choosing their venue this spring and summer, but you don't need to wait. Beso Taco Bar is officially open for business.
