The Restoration of Danbury’s Hearthstone Castle: A Look at Its Rich History
Nestled in the heart of Danbury's Tarrywile Park lies a historic landmark that has inspired awe and wonder for over a century. Hearthstone Castle, with its turrets, towers, intricate stonework, and rich history, have earned it a spot on the National Register of Historic Places.
The first phase of the castle's renovation was finished 18 months ago and included the removal of the accumulated debris where the roof had collapsed, which included contaminated material.
The second phase of the restoration process is nearly complete, and Danbury's City Engineer Antonio Iadarola told Hearst Connecticut Media that options are currently being discussed regarding the castle's future use. Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito also weighed in, stating, "We want to get it to a point where Danbury residents can go up there and understand what was there in the past and what’s there now,”
