Indy Car Driver Justin Wilson Dies After Injuries Sustained in Weekend Crash

CNN is reporting tonight that 37-year-old Indy driver Justin Wilson has died after being in a coma as a result of injuries sustained when he was struck by a part that flew off a crashed race car at Pocono Speedway on Sunday.

According to CNN, the nose cone of another car flew off after it crashed and hit Wilson in the head. Wilson's car then hit a wall before coming to rest on the track. Indy cars, unlike Nascar vehicles, have an open cockpit putting the drivers more at risk.
