Jewel Ratzlaff, Public Information Officer for the Poughkeepsie Public Library District, stopped by our studios and sat down to talk not only about the Poughkeepsie Public Library District, but about The Poughkeepsie Read as well.

Jewel updated us on the many and varied programs that the Poughkeepsie Public Library District offers, including the news that the Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District now have a Used Book Store at the site of the Boardman Road Branch. They will continue to hold the annual Holiday Book Sale, but this store is open year round. Be sure to check it out.

The Poughkeepsie Read is a chance for everyone in our community to not only read some great books, but to also experience them through a wide variety of events at public libraries, school districts, colleges, and many civic, arts and educational organizations throughout the Hudson Valley.

Throughout the show Jewel talked about many dates and a wide variety of activities that will continue on with The Poughkeepsie Read until November 22. You can hear the show at 5:30 am on Sundays and you can also listen to it in it's entirety right here. As Jewel said in the interview, your library card can be one of the most valuable cards in your wallet. If you don't have one, sign up today and get yours.
