Pick Up Truck Drives Into Putnam County Home

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office shared details of a scary incident that took place over the weekend.

According to a press release shared to social media on Saturday March 14th, 2026, a motor vehicle crashed into a home in the Town of Philipstown.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene on Route 9D at approximately 5:56 pm. There were 2 individuals inside at the time the red truck crashed into the home.

Thankfully, no one was hurt and no injuries were reported in the home.

39-Year-Old Arrested in Truck vs. House Incident

Sheriff Brian Hess announced that 39-year-old Zachary Freeman was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.

When Putnam County Sheriff Deputies arrived on the scene they "determined that the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle" was Freeman. The statement goes on to explain:

Freeman, had driven off the roadway and struck the home.
During the investigation, deputies determined that Freeman was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.  Freeman was arrested and transported for processing.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office states that "All suspects mentioned in this media release are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."

With that being said, Freeman was charged with 4 different charges including Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree (Class D Felony), Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor), Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor), and Moved from Lane Unsafely (Traffic Infraction).

The driver was arraigned in the Town of Philipstown Court and released on his own recognizance.
