Poughkeepsie Police Look Into Two Separate Stabbings Days Apart

Police are investigating two separate stabbing incidents that occurred this week in Poughkeepsie, NY.

The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department is currently investigating two stabbing incidents that occurred within days of each other involving two male victims.

Stabbing Incident in Poughkeepsie, NY

The first incident happened on Sunday, March 15th, 2026, at approximately 11:29 a.m., when officers were called to respond to the area of South Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie for a report of a stabbing.

According to the City of Poughkeepsie PBA Facebook page, when officers arrived, they located a 39-year-old male victim who sustained stab wounds to his shoulder and arm. Police didn't identify the victim or give any other information regarding the incident, but did say that the wounds were non-life-threatening.

The subject was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Another Stabbing in Poughkeepsie, NY

The second incident happened on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at approximately 8:35 p.m., when an area hospital contacted City 911 to report that a stabbing victim had walked into the hospital for treatment.

The 28-year-old male victim, who hasn't been identified, sustained a stab wound to the upper abdomen and would require surgery.

City of Poughkeepsie Detectives responded to the hospital to interview the victim and were able to determine that the stabbing allegedly took place in the area of the 600 block of Main Street.

Crime Scene Technicians and Detectives responded to the scene, established a crime scene, and began to collect evidence and interview witnesses.

Police said that both incidents, which are not believed to be related, are still under investigation.
