Ulster County Community Action known for it's work in Ulster County will now also be holding events in Sullivan County. This Tuesday (March 19th) they are holding a food distribution event in Monticello. The location for this event is 309 East Broadway at the Action Towards Independence Building.

If you are someone who could benefit from this event you are invited to stop by between 1 pm to 3 pm. Their is no income requirement. The food items being distributed are from the Regional Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and consist of mostly pantry items. Future events will make other food groups available including fresh fruits and vegetables.

I spoke with Brian Meade the UCCAC Assistant Program Director for Outreach via phone about this first time event. He is encouraging anyone who could benefit to stop by and pick up what they need. Their is no income requirement. The only requirement is that you sign your name when you arrive. UCCAC is also looking for volunteers to help with this event and upcoming dates. If you have questions or want to help you can contact Brian at (845) 794-4228.

UCCAC holds similar events in Ulster County on a regular basis. According to Brian they hope to establish the same regularity in Sullivan County that they currently have in Ulster. Currently the Ulster County events include a farmer's market offering fresh fruit and vegetables. The events, held every month, happen in three locations, Kingston; Ellenville and Highland.
