Hudson Valley ShopRite Supermarkets Donate to Local Veterans
ShopRite Supermarkets Inc. is always finding ways to give back to the community. They have been very generous over the years to the towns and organizations that matter to their customers. This past Wednesday (July 8,2020) they demonstrated that generosity again with a donation to the Orange County Veterans Food Pantry.
Brett Wing, President and Chief Operating Officer of ShopRite Supermarkets Inc. presented Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus with a check for $250,000 for the County’s Veterans Food Pantry at a presentation on Wednesday. The check presentation was held at the ShopRite in Montgomery and was the official kick-off for ShopRite's 12th annual Veterans Fundraising Campaign. Now through August 15th Hudson Valley ShopRite stores will be accepting donations to benefit several local veterans organizations located in the communities that the stores serve.
Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus was quoted in the press release as saying, “ShopRite has always been a dedicated partner when it comes to enhancing the quality of life of our veterans, and should be commended for its community service. We appreciate that ShopRite and their employees and patrons remember and appreciate the sacrifices our veterans have made for us.”
ShopRite has raised close to $5.9 million since they started this campaign in 2009. In 2019, ShopRite raised $910,000 for local veterans organizations. The 2020 campaign will benefit many local veterans organizations including the Committee for the Families of War Veterans, Hudson Valley Honor Flight, the Orange County Veterans Food Pantry and a handful of others. Brett Wing, President and COO of ShopRite Supermarkets Inc., stated “Supporting local veterans and fighting hunger within the communities we serve are two especially important initiatives for our ShopRite team,”
The ShopRite of Montgomery houses the Orange County Veterans Food Pantry which serves active duty, surviving family members, National Guard, Reservists, veterans and their spouses.
