The Poughkeepsie City School District reportedly ran out of copy paper before Christmas break and was without paper for over a month, according to NewsSource.

School officials blame the district's paper supplier.

"I've checked with our business office and was informed that the district's supplier was not able to provide the district's requested supplies. Asa result another paper supplier was identified who could provide," Poughkeepsie City School District Superintendent Eric Rosser told a concerned parent in an email that was shared on Facebook. "Once the issue with our supplier was brought to our attention it was immediately addressed.

Concerned residents took to Facebook to try and help. Some called for donations of paper or a fundraiser to buy paper, while another person suggested a fundraiser to fund an investigation regarding how the Poughkeepsie City School District is spending its money.

On Wednesday, the Poughkeepsie City School District confirmed the paper shortage. Adding the schools in need have been provided with some paper.

"We appreciate the community's concerns and willingness to support our schools. However, we have paper. The Central Office has provided eight cartons of paper and will continue to support any school needing paper until their order comes in," the Poughkeepsie City School District wrote on Facebook.

The school district also confirmed the paper shortage to Hudson Valley Post and told us how they are correcting the issue.

"According to information received from two schools, there was a shortage of paper at two schools this month. One of the schools had a low supply of white paper around Christmas and starting using colored paper instead," a Poughkeepsie City School District spokesperson told Hudson Valley Post in an email. "Once the district was made aware of the paper issue, the schools were provided with paper (eight cartons) from the Central Office. The district switched suppliers and we've asked the new supplier to expedite delivery. If any other schools need paper, the Central Office is able to provide it until their order comes in."
