An upper Hudson Valley man is accused of stealing from a local Salvation Army on more than one occasion as well as a diner.

On Tuesday, New York State Police from the Livingston and Kinderhook barracks announced the arrest of Elmanuel Casiano, 55, of Kinderhook for three counts of burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, two counts of petit larceny, criminal mischief and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, all misdemeanors.

An investigation found Casiano was responsible for the overnight burglaries of the Salvation Army in the town of Greenport on July 9, the Columbia Diner in the town of Kinderhook on July 12 and the Salvation Army on July 12, police say.

Approximately $134 in U.S. currency was stolen from the Salvation Army in Greenport and an undisclosed amount of cash along with the safe during the second burglary of the Salvation Army while the Columbia Diner reported approximately $300 in U.S. currency stolen, according to New York State Police.

When Casiano was arrested he was allegedly in possession of a small amount of crack-cocaine. He was remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail.
