
Hudson Valley Law Enforcement Shares Safety Tips Ahead of Halloween Celebrations
Halloween Safety Tips From Local Hudson Valle Law Enforcement
The spookiest day of the year is almost here and local law enforcement is making sure Trick-or-Treaters are safe in their communities.
Many local police departments are sharing their safety tips on social media, like The Village of Goshen.
On Facebook they shared the following tips:
- Try to Trick-or-Treat while it is still light out. If you must go at night, make sure that your costume is light in color or has reflective/glow in the dark patches on it.
- Bring a flashlight.
- Trick-or-Treat with an adult or group. Make sure your family knows where you'll be going door-to-door.
- Make sure your costume fits.
- Use makeup instead of masks.
- Always walk on sidewalks where available.
- Don't eat your treats until a trusted adult has examined them.
The Village of Goshen asks motorist to "avoid cutting through residential areas that will likely have large numbers of Trick-or-Treaters."
They will also have Police Officers and Goshen Fire Police "monitoring pedestrian and vehicular traffic in residential areas to ensure a safe Halloween for everyone."
Does Your Town Have a Halloween Curfew?
Halloween falling on a Friday is a gift and a curse. Families don't have to worry about their kids being up early the next day for school, but the older kids may see this as an opportunity to get rowdy.
Most towns usually have a curfew on Halloween, but it seems like many local agencies and governments are pushing the rules a little more this year.

The Village of Goshen's curfew goes into effect starting October 30th. The curfew begins at 8pm and goes until 6pm on the 30th and 31st.
The Town of East Fishkill announced their curfew on Halloween from 8 pm until 4 am. The curfew has been in place since 1997, but some folks were upset by how early the curfew starts.
New York State Police Halloween Crackdown
Not only will the kids have extra eyes on them this Halloween, local law enforcement will be out and about as well.
According to the New York State Police the will have local law enforcement looking out for dangerous activity on the roads.
Through Friday police will be out with increased sobriety checkpoints and a crack down on people who are driving distracted and speeding.
In 2024 during the Halloween week crackdown campaign, NYS Police issued over 46,000 tickets.
