NYC Biggest and Brightest Light Show Canceled For the First Time in 20 Years

With the holiday season upon us, many families are planning their list of festive activities. For some, that includes a trip to New York City to see the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and the city decked out for the season.

Besides the tree and the window displays, holiday enthusiast would stop by Sak's Fifth Avenue to watch their magical holiday light show. The show has been running every holiday season from mid-November until the new year.

While it's a bummer that the Sak's Fifth Avenue Holiday Light Show will dim this year, there are several local Hudson Valley light shows that will outshine the city.

Hudson Valley Light Shows That Are Returning for the 2024 Season

The Hudson Valley will be shining brightly this holiday season as 2 big drive-thru light displays are returning for the 2024 season.

The Dutchess County Fair Grounds announced the return of Wonderland of Lights in Rhinebeck this year. The festivities begin on Thursday, November 28th through Sunday, December 1st from 5 pm to 9 pm. Then it will open again Thursday December 5th, through Sunday, December 8th from 5 pm to 9 pm.

Finally they'll be open nightly Thursday, December 12th through December 29th. Tickets are available for purchase online now.   Peace, Love and Lights is returning to Bethel Woods this year as well. Starting on Black Friday and running nightly from 5 pm until 10 pm (with last entry at 9 pm) until December 29th.

There are also specific nights when you can experience the Sullivan 180 Walk-Thru where you lace up your boots and walk through the light display. The Sullivan 180 Walk-Thru is available every Monday in December (2, 9, 16 & 23) from 5 pm until 9Pm with last entry at 7:30 pm.

Where Is Your Favorite Hudson Valley Light Display?

It wouldn't be a Hudson Valley holiday season without a mention of the ERDAJT's Christmas Light Display in LaGrange.

The Gay Family home on Patrick Lane has been lighting up Dutchess County for years with hundreds of thousands of bright  holiday lights. They've broken numerous world records and have been mentioned a time or two by big publications and Jimmy Fallon!

According to the ERDAJT's Christmas Light Display Facebook page, they'll turn on the lights this year on November 29th, 2024 at 4:45 pm.
