Jermaine M. Jones, 26, of Hudson was arrested for a shooting of a woman in Ghent.

On Thursday, October 13th the police were called about a woman from Ghent being treated for a gunshot wound to the abdomen at Columbia Memorial Hospital. The victims injury at the time was sever and she was transferred to Albany Medical Center.

Through an investigation involving the New York State Police of Livingston, the Hudson Police Department and assistance from Columbia County District Attorney they were able to conclude that Jones had shot the victim earlier in the evening at a residence in Hudson.

Jones was arraigned at the Town of Claverack Court and was moved to the Columbia County Jail without bail. He was charged with assault in the first degree and criminal use of a firearm in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon second Degree.

The victims injuries are not life threatening at this time.
