How Do You Deal With a Noisy Neighbor?
Have you ever had to deal with one?
Ever Wednesday on the Wakin' Up with CJ and Jess Show we give the fine folks of the Hudson Valley the air waves to get some help with an issue or problem they are dealing with. We call it "We Gotcha Wednesday". Some weeks the problems are small, other weeks a little more serious.
This week we got an email from a woman who is looking for a way to deal with a neighbor. She wrote,
"I recently moved into a one bedroom top floor apartment at a complex in Kingston. The girl who lives under my apartment seemed cool. I moved in and came home on my lunch break one afternoon to get some chores done around the house. I hear a knock at my door and it was my neighbor from downstairs. She told me she could hear me walking around above her and she was trying to sleep because she had to work an overnight shift. I felt so bad and I assured that I would be quieter. She said we should probably exchange numbers so she can text me if she ever hears me in the future. That same night, I got done with practice at 10pm and was on my way home. I get a text from her that said "Hey I am heading to bed for the night so if you could just walk lightly when you get home that would be great. And then tomorrow I need to sleep until 11am so if you can just be as quiet as possible when getting ready for work in the morning.”
I think she’s crazy! The most recent text I received from her was "My boyfriend is over and he just asked if a 250 pound guy lives above me. Would you mind being a little more quiet?" This was 6pm on a Wednesday!
Because she lives downstairs, does that make her right in this situation? I think she’s being really dramatic! How do I handle this?
I think her first mistake was sharing her phone number. LOL. Being a guy who does live on the bottom floor of an apartment I can kinda see where this neighbor is coming from, sometimes people walk really loud but they pay rent just like we do and as long as shes just walking and not bowling at all hours of the night, the lady has to get over it.
What do you guys think? How would you handle this? Call of text us through the Wolf app.
