Holiday Hoopla This Weekend in New Paltz, New York
Many communities around the Hudson Valley are offering holiday celebrations this month. It is practically impossible to list them all. I do have a list of opportunities for you to check in with Santa, but the truth is the big guy is gonna be just about everywhere in the next few weeks.
It seems like just about every town has some sort of celebration to welcome in the holiday season. Many places did their events last weekend but New Paltz and a few others have their events planned for this weekend. The Holiday Hoopla Parade and Carnival will be happening this Saturday (Dec. 10, 2022) in Hasbrouck Park in New Paltz, NY.
Annual Holiday Hoopla Planned for New Paltz, NY
This annual event is in its third year. Organized by the Town of New Paltz's Office of Community Wellness (OCW) with assistance from the New Paltz Youth Program and the Ulster Prevention Council is designed to be family fun and bring holiday cheer. It also brings together the community and shares valuable information.
Just like in years past the event begins with a parade full of float and music that travels down Main street in New Paltz leaving the middle school at 12 Noon and heading to Hasbrouck Park (15 Mohonk Ave) where a family-style carnival of outdoor activities with music and games is planned from 1 PM to 3 PM. Santa will be on hand along with his polar bear buddy.
Next to the park is St. Joseph's Church Hall which will offer a place to warm up along with free hot chocolate, coffee, and assorted snacks. There will also be arts and crafts at the church for children.
Keep in mind if you have to travel through New Paltz on Saturday between 11:30 and 4 PM leave yourself some extra time.
